About the Branch

Digital images obtained from systems that work entirely with digital technology are also archived in digital media. Compared to the images obtained with conventional methods, more detailed, shorter examination time, more adequate images can be obtained for diagnosis, and these images are examined by experienced specialist doctors at special workstations. All the possibilities available in the Radiology department today, namely:

  • Direct radiography systems + Panoramic X-Ray + CR technology,
  • Digital fluoroscopy,
  • Digital mammography, Tomosynthesis, Stereotactic Vacuum Biopsy Device
  • Ultrasonography + Doppler Ultrasonography,
  • Multi Detector Computed Tomography (256 sections flash CT),
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (1.5 tesla),
  • Digital Angiography (DSA),
  • Interventional radiology,
  • PACS (Image archiving and communication system) is available in the Radiology department of our hospital.

Panoramic and direct radiological examinations:

All direct graphs are obtained digitally with CR systems. All kinds of routine direct X-rays and special direct examinations (scoliosis, orthorontgenography, Panoramic X-ray and Cephalometry etc.) are performed. In addition, portable radiography services are provided to our hospitalized patients when deemed necessary.

Digital mammography studies

Digital Mammography + Tomosynthesis, a new technology in breast imaging, has now become the main diagnostic method in the diagnosis of breast diseases and breast cancer screening. Unlike conventional mammography, images are obtained in digital environment using electronic sensors. These images are then examined on special high-resolution monitors. Postprocessing operations such as magnification, measurement and contrast adjustment can be performed regardless of the dose of X-ray used. Advantages of Digital Mammography:

  • The review time is short. Images can be viewed on the screen within 1 minute after shooting. Knowledge of the adequacy of the images.
  • The radiation dose is lower than conventional mammography.
  • Contrast resolution is higher than normal mammography. Microcalcifications and small lesions can be distinguished more easily. Lesions can be evaluated in 3 dimensions. This facilitates the evaluation of particularly dense and fibrocystic breast tissue.
  • Breast cancer and detected lesions are undergoing a more detailed screening.
  • Stereotactic biopsy and marking procedures are performed under the guidance of mammography. Vacuum biopsy is generally used in the presence of microcalcifications that are not visible on ultrasound and more tissue is required for diagnosis. More tissue can be taken in a shorter time, thus increasing the chance of correct diagnosis. The complication rate is very low as the bleeding that may occur is removed by vacuum.
  • Again, before the operation, the lesion is marked with a wire and the entire lesion is removed.
  • Images are archived in digital environment and can be transferred digitally.

Ultrasonography and Doppler ultrasonography examinations

The high resolution of advanced ultrasonography devices and the perfection of image quality provide diagnostic convenience. We provide service in specially prepared rooms with our renewed ultrasonography devices. In our department, all ultrasonographic examinations and interventional methods accompanied by ultrasonography are applied.

Computed Tomography Examinations

In our current CT system, large body areas can be examined with much higher resolution with very thin sections in a very short time, and thus all thorax and abdominal examinations can be completed in a single breath-hold time.

With our new device, coronary angiography can be performed without any intervention, without a catheter, and in only one breath-hold time. Moreover, this process, which can enter even the thinnest veins, ends without blood and in the blink of an eye. By screening for coronary artery disease, it ensures that measures are taken today by showing the danger in the future to those who are in the risk group for coronary artery disease, but think that they do not have any heart disease, seem to be in good health or live unaware of tomorrow.

Now, imaging of the best coronary and vascular structures, evaluation of heart anatomy and function, and visualization of cardiac muscle are among the options we can perform. Except for cardiac angiography, all angiographic procedures are similarly performed in a single breath-hold time, by giving intravenous contrast material with a single injection without any intervention. Thus, the definitive diagnosis of many diseases such as aneurysm, vascular stenosis, occlusion and clotting can be made quickly and easily, and all vessels can be visualized in 3D in a very short time. It is an easier and faster method, and the necessity of hospitalization after the examination is eliminated.

The entire lung can be scanned with 0.6 mm thin sections in a short time like 5-6 seconds. Thus, early diagnosis of lung diseases and lung cancer is possible. By using specially developed Computer Tomography examinations, nodules related to the lungs can be detected easily, and cancer screening programs can be applied to healthy individuals by using very low-dose radiation for this purpose, by enabling the imaging and evaluation of nodules related to the lungs that may be possible lung cancer.

Thanks to 3-dimensional examination and high reconstruction technology, endoscopic examinations (bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, cystoscopy), which can be extremely distressing for patients, can be performed in a virtual environment within the scope of routine examination without any intervention and viewed in 3D.

In summary,

  • Faster shots, higher resolution and 3D imaging,
  • High quality CT angiography (Cerebral, carotid, aortography, peripheral angiography),
  • Coronary CT angiography and Calcium scoring,
  • Pre-transplant evaluation, volumetric,
  • Scanning large body areas in a short time,
  • Searching for the etiology (early diagnosis of aortic dissection, pulmonary embolism, etc.) in patients who applied to the emergency department with chest pain,
  • Procedures such as CT-Colonography and CT-Bronchography.
  • Our device: Siemens Definition Flash 256

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Our MRI system has been renewed with the 1.5 Tesla SIEMENS Avanto MRI device, which includes the latest technological developments. With this device equipped with sufficient and special coils and programs for each region:

  • Examination of the head area such as brain, eye, inner ear and ear structures, pituitary, jaw joint, cerebral artery and vein systems,
  • Neck structure, larynx, pharynx, salivary glands, tongue and surrounding structures,
  • Lungs, heart and great vessels associated with the heart,
  • Intra-abdominal organs, lower abdomen,
  • Neck, back and lumbar spine pathologies,
  • In addition to standard examinations such as evaluation of limbs and joints such as shoulders, arms, elbows, wrists, hands, hips, thighs, knees, legs, ankles and feet:
  • Whole body angiography
  • MR spectroscopy,
  • Cranial and abdominal diffusion imaging,
  • Perfusion MRI,
  • MRCP, MR pyelography and MR myelography.
  • CSF current study,
  • kinematic studies,
  • Whole body metastasis screening
  • Dynamic tissue (liver, breast, tumor) MRI examinations,
  • Regional MRI angiographic examinations,
  • Breast Biopsy Procedures can be performed under MR Guidance.

MR-Guided Breast Biopsy is a method used for the diagnosis of lesions that cannot be visualized in mammography and ultrasound but can be visualized in MR. For this patient group, the correct diagnosis can be made and the correct treatment can be planned by performing an MR-guided biopsy instead of unnecessary frequent controls or surgery.
